About this opportunity :

 

The Research Scientist III is responsible for meeting the analytical testing requirements to support research and development projects primarily focused on oligonucleotides.  The RS III provides technical and professional leadership in project and inter-departmental meetings and may supervise staff to meet departmental goals.  The RS III communicates with clients and resolves issues in consultation with laboratory management.  The RS III develops and contributes to department objectives for continuous improvement and technical excellence. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • Design and execute testing per method or protocol for development, qualification, verification, validation, and transfer of analytical methods. 
  • Provide analytical support to Process Development and Manufacturing and help develop process controls. 
  • Analyze and review project data, correct errors, and report results. 
  • Design, review, perform, and improve method development experiments to support research and development primarily focused on oligonucleotides. 
  • Develop new analytical applications and technology. 
  • Perform GDP and technical review within multiple projects. 
  • Author scientific and regulatory documentation (e.g., validation protocols and specifications). 
  • Provide technical and professional leadership in project and inter-departmental meetings. 
  • Improve laboratory compliance. 
  • Provide intermediate to advanced-level training in lab techniques and procedures. 
  • Plan, track, execute, and review team tasks to deliver project results on time. 
  • Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. 
  • Communicate with clients and resolve issues in consultation with laboratory management. 
  • Develop and contribute to department objectives for continuous improvement and technical excellence. 
  • Mediate personnel conflicts within the team and promote a positive work atmosphere. 
  • Operate and troubleshoot available instruments such as HPLC and MS. 
  • Independently learn new instruments and techniques. 
  • Perform common algebraic and statistical calculations correctly. 
  • Author and revise laboratory SOPs. 
  • Supervise 0-3 staff. 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

 

  • BA/BS with 6+ years, MS with 4+ years, or PhD with 2+ years. 
  • Analytical chemistry knowledge including theory and application of fundamental, chromatographic, and spectroscopic techniques for identification, purity, and assay of various analytes. 
  • Apply undergraduate general, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry to creatively solve problems. 
  • Competency to think strategically and conceptually to apply quality by design principles when designing experiments. 
  • Knowledge and application of cGMPs and regulatory guidance documents. 
  • Intermediate Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Ability to author clearly written and verbal instructions. 
  • Rigorous attention to detail to identify and correct gaps in procedures. 
  • Experience providing training and mentor development of direct reports. 
  • Proficient in technical writing and presentations to internal sites. 

 

The annualized salary range for this position is $109,400.00 - $133,800.00.
