About this opportunity :

 

This position, based in Milford, MA, reports to the Director of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), and executes hands-on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) program coordination, providing education and tools to employees and managers as required and ensuring compliance with environmental regulatory requirements for all three Nitto Avecia sites in Cincinnati, OH, Irvine, CA and Milford, MA.

 

This position is the key coordinator of the company’s ESG management system, also known as Sustainability or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This position also coordinates or performs the collection of key performance indicators, maintains environmental compliance documentation and makes recommendations for continual improvement of both the EHS and ESG management systems.

 

This position is the main point of contact with Nitto Avecia clients around ESG and with regulatory agencies around environmental compliance, in partnership with the EHS team based at each of the three Nitto Avecia sites.The key responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the position but is not a complete list. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as Nitto Avecia’s internal subject matter expert (SME) on ESG, including third party product certification strategies and support, lifecycle principles and circular economy, etc.
  • Directly support and create sustainable processes to manage external surveys that are crucial to ESG management, e.g. EcoVadis, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), etc.
  • Lead and/or participate, in all company teams focused on ESG to ensure alignment and support of the ESG strategy and ensure collaboration across teams
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of periodic environmental reports such as those required for compliance with Tier II EPCRA, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Biennial Hazardous Waste (RCRA), wastewater discharge reports to local authorities and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Massachusetts Toxic Use Reduction (TURA), California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), etc.
  • Maintain required documentation for environmental compliance such as wastewater operation and maintenance manual and staffing plan, regulated waste manifests, air emissions calculations, etc.
  • Represent the organization during environmental regulatory inspections, client audits focused on ESG or environmental compliance, etc.
  • Ensure the organization is kept up to date on sustainability developments, trends, and best practices to inform business threats and opportunities
  • Develop and present interactive training sessions that effectively educate and inspire action
  • Facilitate or coordinate audits of facilities and site operations
  • Travel required approximately 10%

 

Required Skills

 

  • Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree (required) in environmental engineering (preferred) or science or closely related field with 10+ years of hands-on experience, including requirements from local, state and federal agencies such as EPA, MassDEP, Cal/EPA, etc.
  • Superb leadership skills, including effective communication and the skill to influence across all hierarchical levels of the organization, required
  • Detail orientation, organization and program management skills required
  • Desire to learn through on-the-job experience, formal and informal research, required
  • Capability to effectively collaborate with other EHS team members, e.g. mentoring, advising, supporting, etc., to maintain a strong EHS management system, required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required
