About this opportunity :

 

This position reports to the Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and is responsible for leading the company’s Contractor Safety Program, coordinating manufacturing-related EHS support activities, and driving Process Safety program performance. The Program Manager provides strategic and hands-on expertise, ensures regulatory and corporate compliance, oversees contractor prequalification and field performance, and leads key Process Safety studies to reduce operational risk. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • Serve as the program owner for the Contractor Safety Program, including contractor prequalification, onboarding, performance monitoring, and field verification. 
  • Develop and maintain contractor EHS policies, safe-work expectations, and approval workflows. 
  • Oversee implementation of contractor work permits, job hazard analyses, and high-hazard activity controls. 
  • Conduct field audits of contractors, track EHS metrics, and drive corrective actions. 
  • Coordinate contractor EHS communication, including safety alerts, training, and project requirements. 
  • Lead or facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), HAZOPs, LOPA evaluations, and related studies. 
  • Participate in or lead activities such as Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR). 
  • Maintain and improve Process Safety Information (PSI) documentation. 
  • Coordinate follow-up actions from PHAs, incident investigations, and audits. 
  • Provide technical EHS support to manufacturing and engineering. 
  • Facilitate hazard assessments, including industrial hygiene monitoring. 
  • Support EHS programs, chemical management, waste handling, and emergency preparedness.
  • Guide operations teams in hazard recognition and safe work practices.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training.
  • Conduct EHS audits of contractors and operations.
  • Participate in emergency response as needed.
  • Serve in an on-call rotation.
  • Maintain required EHS documentation and compliance systems.
  • Collect and analyze KPIs for contractor safety and process safety.
  • Prepare reports and improvement recommendations for leadership. 

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, engineering, or related field. 
  • 7–15 years of experience in manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or biotech industries. 
  • Experience leading PHA/HAZOP studies and PSM systems. 
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities. 
  • Preferred certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM. 
  • Physical Requirements 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to wear respiratory protection. 
  • Ability to access manufacturing and contractor work areas. 

 

The annualized salary range for this position is $107,700.00 - $131,700.00.
