JOB SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for identifying and pursuing new global business opportunities, primarily in the Advanced Electronics and Base Materials markets, as well as other emerging sectors. This includes researching growing markets, engaging with key target customers, collecting and analyzing market intelligence, and developing strategic business cases. Additional responsibilities include evaluating market potential and strategic fit with Nitto’s core competencies, formulating business plans and execution strategies, and supporting projects through internal evaluation and development processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES:  The essential functions of the job include, but not limited to the following:

  1. Assesses primarily in the Advanced Electronics and Base Materials markets, as well as other emerging sectors to identify business opportunities, evaluates economics and risk factors, and develops the business strategy required to drive success.

 

  1. Identifies and solicits new customers by introducing existing products and analyzing potential opportunities for new products, applications, and technologies. Communicates application needs to R&D Dept.  Acts as a liaison between customer, local personnel, and the Nitto global organization to coordinate efforts in developing new products and meeting customer’s application needs. Provides product and application recommendations to customers.

 

  1. Works closely with existing customers by introducing existing products and analyzing potential opportunities for new products, applications, and technologies.   1. Collaborates with key participants in the internal organization to drive the internal processes required to fully assess the opportunity.  Understands the fit with the core competencies of the company.  Finalizes the business plan and achieves buy-in within the internal organizational group.

 

  1. Provides the industry vision necessary to identify market and technology trends.  This includes staying abreast of new industry trends and technologies and maintaining awareness of competitor activity.

 

  1. Regularly reports to senior management and corporate division to apprise them of findings and activities.  Uses various forms of reporting including project sheets.

 

  1. Handles special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with business concentration, Marketing degree preferred; or 5 or more years sales and marketing experience in the electronics industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Experience in international business important.  Experience in a manufacturing company preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

 

Bilingual English/Japanese preferred

 

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

  • REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

  • COMMUNICATION - Verbal, written, and oral communication skills are critical to successful performance of assigned tasks.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS: Strong computer knowledge and familiarity.  Strong aptitude and ability in Windows software and application.
