About the position:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Accounting and Finance in our NJ HQ, the position will be responsible for a variety of accounting activities and working alongside other accounting team members. The Assistant Manager, Area Accounting & Finance is a critical role within Nitto's finance organization. The 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

2 direct reports: Tax Analyst and Financial Analyst

 

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions for assigned accounts.
  • Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Analyze and verifies financial information by creating spreadsheet reports.
  • Provide financial data to KPMG in order for them to prepare and file corporate income taxes.
  • Review reconciliation of payroll related transactions and accounts, including (NA) and (NII).
  • Review journal entries of local and expat payrolls and debit notes required for spec-in funding division.
  • Coach and supervise the direct report to help her/him to grow with the assigned tasks.
  • Assist Manager with various tax projects.
  • Provides backup for other accounting positions during period of absence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare worksheet/calculation sheet in order to prepare proper journal entries. 
  • 9 subsidiaries are consolidated and reviewed for tax compliance and provisions
  • Amount of estimated tax payment is approx. $30 mil per year
  • 15 debit notes issued for spec-in funding
  • 13 Local and expat payroll journal entries and reconciliation for (NA) and (NII)
  • 18 GL accounts for reconciliation
  • Perform timely and frequent communication with the subsidiaries in order to achieve timely submission of tax related data to KPMG for filing tax returns.
  • Plan well tax provision tasks and timeline and monitor a progress of each task for each entity and review the tax provision files thoroughly in order to minimize KPMG’s review time.
  • Continue to seek improvement in current processes for improvement of productivity.
  • Record business transactions appropriately in accordance with Nitto Group Accounting Rules, which is IFRS based, in order to report (NA)’ s financial information to HQ in Japan and to file corporate income taxes in a timely manner.
  • Delivering accurate financial data in a timely manner to Nitto Japan contributes to the Company’s responsibility for reliable financial information to shareholders.

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred
  • 5 plus years work experience in tax/accounting field
  • Big 4 experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Strict attention to detail; highly organized and efficient
  • Team player with ability to collaborate with teams in other locations
  • Ability to work with confidential information
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to work with other functions

 

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Windows computer environment including word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and presentation software

Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations:

  • US – CPA a plus
